Sunflowers and fabric dye

Aren’t sunflowers pretty?

double layer sunflower skirt

or, double layer sunflower dress!

The fabric is by Heather Bailey, who has loads of lovely color for us to work with.  I hand dyed the organic cotton waistband fabric to match.

I’ve tried lots of different dyes, but the easiest ones for sure is this brand called iDye.  You just throw it in your washing machine with the fabric, add salt, soak, follow the easy directions, and you get lovely color.  I was skeptical at first, I was worried the dye would ruin the machine, but by some magic, it doesn’t! It’s pretty fun to see the transformation, and you get the color that you want.
